ECL can help you with Microsoft audits (Public)

Lately, Microsoft is getting aggressive with their license audits. Many of the bigger small business clients have already received audit letters. We have been very busy helping our customers with MS audits over the past few months. There are a lot of work to do in a Microsoft audit!

The license audits is Microsoft’s latest "marketing” move to sell their rental licenses MS Office 365 and other cloud software products. It is working very well and lately sales of Microsoft 365 shot through the roof. Microsoft is ahead because they can charge you multiple times the prices with cloud MS Office 365 and other cloud products over their regular licenses purchased at retail, with pretty much the same features!

If you are a small business. It is best to prepare for the seemingly inevitable audit ahead of time rather than waiting for the audit letter to show up. With proper planning ahead of time and purchasing the appropriate products and services, small businesses can save huge amounts of money and legal trouble and lower the chances of triggering an MS audit.

Beware that many large software and equipment resellers are licensing partners with Microsoft. They have a vested interest and an obligation to trigger an MS audit with your firm to maximizing their profits. However, ECL is neutral to all software vendors. Whenever practical, we would recommend open source products or alternative products which not only replace but complement Microsoft’s products while reducing your exposure to audit risks.

If you are an existing client, please call Service department and we can send you a confidential guideline outlining what triggers audits and the MS software licensing strategy before and during the audit. If you are not an existing client, check with the Sales department, sign up with us, sign a mutual NDA, and we can send you our white paper on how to plan and set up and plan your software licensing strategy for the future!
